Agri-Risk Services and Kiki Ward Platt Insurance have been insuring horses, farms and trainers throughout the United States since 1976. Our longstanding success comes from our dedicated, professional staff coupled with the financial security of the “A” rated companies we represent. Our mission is to provide our customers with world class insurance protection for horses, farms and liability exposures in a pleasant, efficient and professional manner.

Key Personnel:

Lance L. Allen, D.V.M., C.I.C.

President and Chief Operating Officer

Dr. Allen is a graduate of the University of Missouri. He practiced equine medicine in Pennsylvania and Missouri before his involvement in international equine insurance. He has developed equine medical insurance policies which were the first for the industry in the United States and Lloyds of London. Dr. Allen has been a consultant for, or co-authored several equine related insurance articles for various national publications. He is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, where he has served on the Equine Insurance Committee, the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association, the Independent Insurance Agents of Kansas and the Kansas Horse Council. He has also served on the Board of Directors for Traders Insurance Company. In 2001, Dr. Allen earned designation as a Certified Insurance Counselor.

Barbara Kirby

Vice President, Senior Equine Agent

Ms. Kirby is a graduate of the University of Missouri, Kansas City, and has a broad background in agriculture and equestrian activities. She has ridden professionally and was formerly with the United States Department of Agriculture. An accomplished equestrian, in 1976 Ms. Kirby showed an Arabian to National Championship Honors. In 1994 and 1998 she was awarded the National Championship for AHSA Adult Hunt Seat Equitation. Ms. Kirby has shown horses on the “A” Hunter/Jumper circuit and was competitive in Horse Trials and Dressage. Currently, she is very active on the Combined Driving Event circuit. She has been on the USDF Zone 7 Committee and the National Hunter/Jumper Council’s Owner’s Committee. Ms. Kirby is a past president of the Greater Kansas City Independent Insurance Agents Association and past president of the Kansas City Professional Horsemen’s Association.

Jamie Martin

Equine Mortality, Underwriter/Agent

Ms. Martin is a graduate of the University of Kansas with a BS in Wildlife Biology, Behavior and Physiology. She has successfully shown Hunter/ Jumpers and is a past member of the AQHA. Along with her husband, she shares her Kansas farm with 6 horses.

Kathleen Baxley

Farm and Liability, Senior Underwriter/Agent

Ms. Baxley is a licensed agent and leads our liability and farm property insurance department. She is a graduate of Pittsburg State University (Pittsburg, Kansas) and is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Cowboys.

Joyce Teeters

Brokered Accounts, Farm-Liability, Underwriter/Agent

Ms. Teeters is a licensed agent and has a legal system background. She is experienced in ownership, training and showing Quarter Horses in Eastern Kansas. She joined Agri-Risk Services in 1999 and works in our property and casualty area.

Linda Lewis

Farm and Liability, Underwriter/Agent

Ms. Lewis is a licensed agent and has over 20 years experience as a veterinary technician as well as several years in county government . She has been an active horse owner for over 40 years and currently enjoys both riding and driving.

Edna Gaylord

Farm and Liability, Underwriter/Agent

Ms. Gaylord is a licensed agent and joined us in 2003 after several years of legal and administrative experience.

Mackenzie Allen

Farm and Liability, Underwriter/Agent

Ms. Allen is a licensed agent and has been with Agri-Risk Services for several years. She has a B.A. degree in Psychology and is an important part of our Excess & Surplus lines specialty department.

Krysten Hulen

Farm and Liability, Underwriter/Agent, Assistant Office Administrator

Ms. Hulen is graduate of William Jewell College in Liberty, MO. She has been with Agri-Risk Services since 1993 and is familiar with all aspects of equine insurance.

Jessie Bradford

Farm and Liability, Underwriting Assistant

Ms. Bradford has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Kansas.  She joined Agri-Risk Services in 2008 after several years in the banking industry as a commercial loan underwriter.  She and her husband enjoy 4 of their own horses. 

Mary Spielbusch

Equine Mortality, Underwriting Assistant

Ms. Spielbusch Joined us in the fall of 2008. She has a Bachelors of Science degree in Equine Administration from William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri.  She has a North American Spotted Draft and a Paint horse at her home near Louisburg, KS.

Cindy Hester

Senior Office Administrator

Ms. Hester received a degree in Business Administration & Accounting from Pittsburg State University. She previously owned & operated a commercial stable & training facility and has successfully shown in hunter/jumper competitions.

Keely Chewning

Senior Claims Associate - International Livestock Adjusting Company

After attending the University of Kansas, Ms. Chewning has been with Agri-Risk in various capacities since 1996.  She still cares for her childhood horse (long retired, but still loved) in her home pasture. 

Chris Jones

Claims Associate - International Livestock Adjusting Company

Ms. Jones joined Agri-Risk Services in 2008 after several years in vaccine production for the animal health industry. She currently shows reining Quarter Horses in her spare time.   


Debra-Kay Diehm

Administrative Assistant

A graduate of Mid-America Nazarene University, Ms. Diehm has been with Agri-Risk Services since 2003.

Lark

Lucky for Lark, Barbara Kirby let this lovable stray come to her house (for only one night) in 1997. He is now a regular in our office.


Schroeder The Wonder Dog

Canine In Charge - Schroeder is a 2004 graduate of a Wal-Mart parking lot in Missouri (WMMO) and is in charge of removal of excess food from the office (what ever Lark leaves behind).
